AI helped build an artificial brain for a robot painter. Here’s what it painted. Astra planned 34 brushstrokes for three fish. In simulation, the water swallowed the fish on the first attempt. Astra revised the plan, checked the arm’s movements for collisions, and sent it to the robot. Then a real brush touched real paper. The painting took about 30 minutes. Afterward, Astra used the robot’s logs to find each stroke in the footage, wrote the music in code, and cut the video to the beat. The piece is called A Small Orbit. I’d hang it.
